TELUS Spark is thrilled to host Amazon Future Engineer Day on Friday, November 1. The FREE event will feature special activities that will introduce visitors of all ages to disciplines including robotics and computer science.
Event Highlights:
FREE Admission: Enjoy free general admission to TELUS Spark from 9am to 4pm, with access to permanent exhibits and special day-of programming.
Hands-On Learning: Visitors of all ages will have the chance to explore robotics and computer science through interactive exhibits and workshops.
Special Programming:
“Your Voice is Power” Workshop: Learn the fundamentals of computer science by remixing music from Indigenous artists. Your Voice is Power combines hands-on STEM education with the opportunity to reflect on themes related to social justice.
Live Performance by YB Nakota and Wyatt C. Louis: The event will feature performances by YB Nakota and Wyatt C. Louis on TELUS Spark’s Inspiration Stage located in the Atrium. YB Nakota is an Indigenous Sioux singer and influencer known for his powerful renditions of traditional prayer songs and his advocacy for Indigenous culture through platforms like TikTok. Wyatt C. Louis is a Nêhiyaw Plains Cree singer-songwriter whose music blends folk, roots, and soulful blues.
Get hands-on with robotics! Visitors will learn about the practical applications of robotics by interacting with an Amazon Hercules Robot, a powerful machine capable of handling heavy loads up to 1,000 pounds in Amazon fulfilment centres.
Calgary European Film Festival

The Calgary European Film Festival invites movie lovers to the best of European cinema! The festival is the primary event organized by not-for-profit multicultural organization, the European Cultural Society of Calgary (ECSC). CEFF is in its tenth edition this year, with more presenting partners than ever.
CEFF is made possible through the efforts of a group of enthusiastic people, and is now sponsored by 20 European societies and a cultural program through the City of Calgary.
Field of Crosses

The Field of Crosses Memorial Project is an annual display of white crosses on Memorial Drive in Calgary, Alberta. The display memorializes soldiers from Southern Alberta who lost their lives fighting for our country. Over 3500 crosses are placed in the memorial park from November 1 – 11 to signify the ultimate sacrifice so many made fighting for the freedoms we enjoy today.
The public is welcome to walk amongst the crosses 24/7. The crosses are illuminated throughout the night. Visitors are encouraged to stop in front of each cross that moves them to pay respect to that soldier by quietly calling their name out loud while holding their hand over their heart and expressing whatever sentiment they are feeling.
Sunrise and Sunset ceremonies will be held from November 1st until November 10th
Night of Lights – November 10th
Lanterns are placed in front of the 3,620 crosses and burn from sunset until sunrise Remembrance Day. In preparation for the Night of Lights only volunteers will be allowed on site between 9 AM until 4 PM on this day.
A Remembrance Day Ceremony is held at the field each November 11. The Remembrance Day Ceremony will be virtual and broadcast live on Global Calgary.
