Hey Wanderers!
Sometimes, the best spots are hidden right under your nose, waiting for you to stumble upon them. Tucked away on 5000 12a St SE, Village Brewery is exactly that kind of hidden gem. This isn’t just another brewery — it’s a place where community and craft collide, creating an atmosphere that feels more like a gathering of friends than a taproom.
If you haven’t discovered Village yet, consider this your official invitation to experience one of Calgary’s most welcoming spaces, filled with incredible beer, mouth-watering food, and warm vibes.
Adi and I recently paid a visit, and let me tell you, it felt like uncovering a secret that we couldn’t wait to share. We started with a flight of beer, which is the perfect way to explore Village’s incredible variety.
For just $10, you get four 5oz pours, and we absolutely fell for the Village Blonde and their crisp, refreshing cider. But the true star of our afternoon? The smoked brisket sandwich. This masterpiece is loaded with tender, juicy brisket, tangy beer mustard, gooey gourmet cheese sauce, pickles, and served on a soft kaiser bun. It’s honestly the best smoked brisket sandwich we’ve ever had, and if I could recommend it 100 times over, I would.
We also couldn’t resist digging into the BBQ nachos, piled high with cheese, BBQ brisket or smoked chicken, and topped with all the good stuff: jalapeños, pickled onions, tomatoes, and a house-made hot sauce. It’s the perfect dish to share with friends, especially when you’re sipping on one of their 16 beers on tap.
Village Brewery isn’t just about the food and drinks, though. Their space is designed for connection, whether you’re hanging out in the cozy taproom or enjoying the dog-friendly patio. They host everything from casual get-togethers to lively concerts and long-table dinners, making it a one-of-a-kind spot for a night out.
So, if you’re on the hunt for a hidden gem in Calgary, make your way to Village Brewery.
